The formula to calculate the Basis Weight (BSW) is:

\[ BSW = BA \cdot WPA \]

Basis Weight Definition

Basis Weight is the weight of a ream of paper, typically measured in pounds. It is calculated by multiplying the basic paper area by the weight per unit area.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Basic Paper Area (BA) = 500 in²
Weight per Unit Area (WPA) = 0.02 lb/in²

Using the formula to calculate the Basis Weight (BSW):

\[ BSW = 500 \cdot 0.02 = 10 \]

The Basis Weight (BSW) is 10 lb.
