The formula to calculate the Counter Offer (CO) is:

\[ CO = O - (O \times D) \]

Where:

Counter Offer (CO): A response given to an initial offer, indicating that the initial offer is not acceptable as it stands, but could be acceptable if certain changes are made.
Original Offer Amount (O): The initial amount offered in a transaction.
Discount Rate (D): The rate at which the original offer is discounted, expressed as a decimal.

Let's say the original offer amount (O) is $1000 and the discount rate (D) is 0.15. Using the formula:

\[ CO = 1000 - (1000 \times 0.15) \]

We get:

\[ CO = 850 \]

So, the counter offer amount is $850.
