Formula

The formula to calculate the Dirty Volume (V_d) is:

\[ V_{d} = \frac{V_{n}}{1 - P_{bsw}} \]

Where:

\( V_{d} \) is the Dirty Volume
\( V_{n} \) is the Net Volume
\( P_{bsw} \) is the Basic Sediment and Water Percentage (expressed as a decimal)

Dirty Volume (V_d): The total volume of a fluid mixture, including both the desired product and any impurities such as sediment and water.
Net Volume (V_n): The volume of the pure product without impurities.
Basic Sediment and Water Percentage (P_bsw): The percentage of impurities in the fluid mixture, expressed as a decimal.
Significance: Helps in determining the efficiency of separation processes and in calculating the net volume of the pure product.

Let's say the net volume (V_n) is 100 cubic meters and the basic sediment and water percentage (P_bsw) is 0.1. Using the formula:

\[ V_{d} = \frac{100}{1 - 0.1} = \frac{100}{0.9} = 111.11 \]

So, the Dirty Volume (V_d) is 111.11 cubic meters.
