Formula

To calculate the ET50:

\[ ET50 = \frac{T}{PFL} \times 50 \]

Where:

\(ET50\) is the ET50
\(T\) is the Total Time (minutes)
\(PFL\) is the Total Percent of Leaf Disks Float (%)

What is ET50?

ET50 is a measure used in biological studies to estimate the time it takes for 50% of a population (e.g., leaf disks) to exhibit a particular behavior or response (e.g., float). It is calculated by dividing the total time by the total percent of leaf disks float and multiplying by 50.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Total Time (\(T\)) = 120 minutes
Total Percent of Leaf Disks Float (\(PFL\)) = 60%

Using the formula:

\[ ET50 = \frac{120}{60} \times 50 = 2 \times 50 = 100 \]

The ET50 is 100.

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Total Time (\(T\)) = 90 minutes
Total Percent of Leaf Disks Float (\(PFL\)) = 45%

Using the formula:

\[ ET50 = \frac{90}{45} \times 50 = 2 \times 50 = 100 \]
