Heat Transfer in Heat Exchanger given Hot Fluid Properties Calculator

Calculate Heat Transfer

Formula

The formula to calculate Heat Transfer is:

\[ Q = m_h \cdot c_h \cdot (T_{hi} - T_{ho}) \]

Definition

Heat is the form of energy that is transferred between systems or objects with different temperatures (flowing from the high-temperature system to the low-temperature system). Mass of Hot Fluid is the mass of the hotter fluid in the heat exchanger. Specific Heat Capacity of Hot Fluid is a physical property of matter, defined as the amount of heat to be supplied to a unit mass of the hotter fluid to produce a unit change in its temperature. Inlet Temperature of Hot Fluid is the temperature at which the hot fluid enters the heat exchanger. Outlet Temperature of Hot Fluid is the temperature at which the hot fluid exits the heat exchanger.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Using the formula:

\[ Q = 8 \cdot 300 \cdot (343 - 323) \approx 48000 \, \text{Joules} \]

The Heat Transfer is approximately 48000 Joules.
