The formula to calculate the Knurling Diameter (KD) is:

\[ KD = OD + 2P \]

Where:

Knurling Diameter (KD): The final diameter of a workpiece after a knurling operation.
Significance: Knurling is a manufacturing process where a pattern is rolled onto the surface of a workpiece to provide grip. The knurling diameter is larger than the original diameter due to the added material from the knurl pattern.

Let's say the original diameter of the workpiece (OD) is 50 mm and the pitch of the knurl pattern (P) is 1 mm. Using the formula:

\[ KD = 50 + 2 \times 1 = 52 \]

So, the Knurling Diameter (KD) is 52 mm.
