Formula

The formula to calculate the Line Capacity (C) is:

\[ C = \frac{1440}{T + t} \times E \]

Where:

\( C \) is the line capacity
\( T \) is the running time of the slowest train in the critical block section (minutes)
\( t \) is the block operation time
\( E \) is the efficiency factor of the line

Definitions

Line Capacity: The total number of trains that can run on a certain block section over a 24-hour period.

Example

Let's say the running time of the slowest train (T) is 10 minutes, the block operation time (t) is 5 minutes, and the efficiency factor (E) is 0.9. Using the formula:

\[ C = \frac{1440}{10 + 5} \times 0.9 \]

We get:

\[ C = \frac{1440}{15} \times 0.9 = 96 \times 0.9 = 86.4 \]

So, the line capacity is 86.4 trains per 24 hours.
