Lumens Per Square Foot Calculator

The formula to calculate lumens per square foot (LPSF) is:

\[ LPSF = \frac{TL}{A} \]

Where:

\(LPSF\) is the Lumens Per Square Foot (lumens/ft²)
\(TL\) is the Total Number of Lumens
\(A\) is the Room Area (ft²)

What is a Lumen?

A lumen is a unit of measure that describes luminous flux, or in other words, the light emitted per second. It is a standard unit used to quantify the amount of visible light emitted by a source.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Total Number of Lumens (\(TL\)) = 10,000 lumens
Room Area (\(A\)) = 500 ft²

Using the formula:

\[ LPSF = \left( \frac{10000}{500} \right) = 20 \]

The Lumens Per Square Foot is 20 lumens/ft².

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Total Number of Lumens (\(TL\)) = 15,000 lumens
Room Area (\(A\)) = 750 ft²

Using the formula:

\[ LPSF = \left( \frac{15000}{750} \right) = 20 \]

The Lumens Per Square Foot is 20 lumens/ft².
