To calculate the Percent Solution (PS):

\[ PS = \frac{\text{Solute}}{\text{Solution}} \times 100 \]

Where:

\(PS\) is the Percent Solution by mass or volume
The Solute is the mass or volume of the solute
The Solution is the mass or volume of the solution

Note that the solute and solution measurements must be in the same unit, i.e., mass or volume.

What is a Percent Solution?

A percent solution is defined as the total percentage of a solution in mass or volume that a solute takes up. In other words, it is the ratio of solute to the solution of a mixture. This metric is commonly used in chemistry and biology to express the concentration of a solution.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Solute = 10 grams
Solution = 100 grams

Using the formula:

\[ PS = \frac{10}{100} \times 100 = 10\% \]

The Percent Solution is 10%.

Using the formula:
