The formula to calculate the Powder Coating Rate (Transfer Efficiency) is:

\[ TE = \left( \frac{M2 - M1}{M3} \right) \times 100 \]

Where:

\(TE\) is the transfer efficiency/coating rate (%)
\(M2\) is the mass of the part after coating
\(M1\) is the mass of the part before coating
\(M3\) is the mass of the powder in the bag

Powder Coating Rate Definition

A powder coating rate is defined as either the total weight of powder deposited per unit of time or the total percentage of powder in a bag used per part.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Mass of the part after coating (M2) = 150 g
Mass of the part before coating (M1) = 100 g
Mass of the powder in the bag (M3) = 200 g

Using the formula to calculate the Powder Coating Rate:

\[ TE = \left( \frac{150 - 100}{200} \right) \times 100 = 25 \]

The Powder Coating Rate is 25%.
