The formula to calculate the Pressure Recovery (PR) is:

\[ PR = \frac{P_s - P}{P_s - P_{min}} \]

Where:

\( PR \) is the pressure recovery
\( P_s \) is the stagnation pressure

\( P_{min} \) is the minimum static pressure

Definitions

Pressure Recovery (PR): A measure of how effectively a fluid flow recovers its pressure after passing through a constriction or an aerodynamic device. It is an important parameter in fluid dynamics and aerodynamics, particularly in the design of diffusers, nozzles, and other components where pressure changes are critical. High pressure recovery indicates that the fluid has regained much of its initial pressure, which is desirable in many engineering applications to ensure efficient energy use and performance.

Example

Let's say the stagnation pressure (P_s) is 1000 Pa, the static pressure (P) is 800 Pa, and the minimum static pressure (P_{min}) is 600 Pa. Using the formula:

\[ PR = \frac{1000 - 800}{1000 - 600} \]

We get:

\[ PR = 0.50 \]

So, the pressure recovery is 0.50.
