Calculate Radiative Heat Transfer

Formula

The formula to calculate the Radiative Heat Transfer is:

\[ Q = \sigma \cdot SA_{Body} \cdot F \cdot (T_1^4 - T_2^4) \]

Definition

Heat is the form of energy that is transferred between systems or objects with different temperatures (flowing from the high-temperature system to the low-temperature system). Body Surface Area is the total surface area of the human body. Geometric View Factor (in radiative heat transfer) is the proportion of the radiation which leaves a surface that strikes another surface. Temperature of Surface 1 is the temperature of the 1st surface. Temperature of Surface 2 is the temperature of the 2nd surface.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Using the formula:

\[ Q = 5.670367E-8 \cdot 8.5 \cdot 0.1 \cdot (503^4 - 293^4) = 2730.11033998808 \]
