Calculate Script Time (ST)

Formula

The formula to calculate the Script Time (ST) is:

\[ ST = \frac{N \times S}{P} \]

Where:

Example

Let's say the number of scenes (\( N \)) is 10, the average scene duration (\( S \)) is 5 minutes, and the pace factor (\( P \)) is 1.2. Using the formula:

\[ ST = \frac{10 \times 5}{1.2} \]

We get:

\[ ST = \frac{50}{1.2} ≈ 41.67 \text{ minutes} \]

So, the Script Time (\( ST \)) is approximately 41.67 minutes.

What is Script Time?

Script Time refers to the duration or time frame within which the events of a script, such as a play, movie, or television show, take place. It can be real-time, where events occur at the same pace as they would in reality, or it can be manipulated to represent longer periods, such as days, months, or even years. The manipulation of script time can be used to enhance storytelling by skipping unimportant events or slowing down time to emphasize important moments.
