Calculate Speaker Output

Formula

The formula to calculate the Speaker Output is:

\[ O = S + 10 \times \log_{10}(P) \]

Where:

What is Speaker Output?

Speaker output is a measure of how loud a speaker can produce sound at a given power level. It is typically measured in decibels (dB) and is influenced by the speaker’s sensitivity and the power it receives. Sensitivity is a measure of the efficiency of a speaker in converting power into sound and is usually specified in dB/W/m (decibels per watt per meter). The higher the sensitivity, the louder the speaker will be for a given amount of power.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Using the formula:

\[ O = 90 + 10 \times \log_{10}(50) = 90 + 10 \times 1.70 = 107 \text{ dB} \]

The Speaker Output is 107 dB.

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Using the formula:

\[ O = 85 + 10 \times \log_{10}(100) = 85 + 10 \times 2 = 105 \text{ dB} \]

The Speaker Output is 105 dB.
