To calculate the steam condensation:

\[ SC = \frac{HR}{LH} \]

Where:

\(SC\) is the steam condensation (lb/hr)
\(HR\) is the heat removed from the system (BTU/hr)
\(LH\) is the latent heat of steam (BTU/lb)

What is Steam Condensation?

Steam condensation is the process of water transforming from its gaseous form of steam into its liquid form of water due to a decrease in temperature.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Heat Removed (\(HR\)) = 5000 BTU/hr
Latent Heat of Steam (\(LH\)) = 970 BTU/lb

Using the formula:

Step 1: Divide the heat removed by the latent heat of steam:

\[ \frac{HR}{LH} = \frac{5000}{970} \approx 5.15 \]

The steam condensation is approximately 5.15 lb/hr.

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Heat Removed (\(HR\)) = 10000 BTU/hr
Latent Heat of Steam (\(LH\)) = 970 BTU/lb

Using the formula:

Step 1: Divide the heat removed by the latent heat of steam:

\[ \frac{HR}{LH} = \frac{10000}{970} \approx 10.31 \]

The steam condensation is approximately 10.31 lb/hr.
