Calculate Telescope Magnification

Formula

To calculate the Telescope Magnification (\(M\)):

\[ M = \frac{FL}{D} \]

Where:

What is Telescope Magnification?

Telescope magnification is a measure of the total enlargement of an image that occurs through the lens of a telescope. For example, if a telescope increases the size of the moon by 10 times the normal eyesight size, then the total magnification is 10.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Using the formula:

\[ M = \frac{1000}{25} = 40 \]

The Magnification is 40.

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Using the formula:

\[ M = \frac{1200}{20} = 60 \]

The Magnification is 60.
