Wave Amplitude Calculator

Formula

To calculate the wave amplitude:

\[ A = \frac{x}{\omega t + \phi} \]

Where:

Wave Amplitude Definition

A wave amplitude is defined as half the distance between the crest and trough of a wave. In other words, it is the distance from the middle of the wave to the peak or trough.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Step 1: Calculate the denominator:

\[ \omega t + \phi = 3 \times 1 + 0.5 = 3.5 \]

Step 2: Divide the displacement by the denominator:

\[ A = \frac{2}{3.5} \approx 0.57 \text{ m} \]
