Work Calculator

Formula

To calculate the Work:

\[ \text{W} = \text{F} \times \text{D} \]

Where:

Alternatively, when force is applied at an angle:

\[ \text{W} = \text{F} \times \text{D} \times \cos(\theta) \]

Where:

What is Work?

Work is the total amount of energy exerted on an object or system through some force over a distance. The SI unit of work is the joule (J). The SI units for force and distance (displacement) are Newtons (N) and meters (m), respectively.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Step 1: Calculate the work:

\[ \text{W} = 10 \times 5 = 50 \text{ J} \]

So, the Work is 50 Joules.

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Step 1: Calculate the work:

\[ \text{W} = 10 \times 5 \times \cos(30°) \approx 10 \times 5 \times 0.866 = 43.3 \text{ J} \]

So, the Work is approximately 43.3 Joules.
