To calculate the Catchment Area (\(CA\)):

\[ CA = \frac{HW}{RFD} \div 0.623 \]

Where:

\(HW\) is the Harvested Water (gallons)
\(RFD\) is the Rainfall Depth (inches)

What is Catchment Area?

Catchment area is a measure of the area from which water is collected and drained into a reservoir or basin. It is typically expressed in square feet (ft²) and is crucial for understanding water collection and management in various applications.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Harvested Water (\(HW\)) = 500 gallons
Rainfall Depth (\(RFD\)) = 2 inches

Using the formula:

\[ CA = \frac{500}{2} \div 0.623 \approx 401.93 \text{ ft²} \]

The Catchment Area is approximately 401.93 ft².

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Harvested Water (\(HW\)) = 1000 gallons
Rainfall Depth (\(RFD\)) = 3 inches

Using the formula:
