Friis Path Loss Calculator

This calculator computes the power that a receiving antenna receives for a given transmitting antenna for a given power for a distance greater than one wavelength for line of sight transmission. The greater the frequency, the greater the path loss.

Equations:

In linear scale:

\( P_{\text{rx}} = P_{\text{tx}} \cdot G_{\text{tx}} \cdot G_{\text{rx}} \cdot \left( \frac{\lambda}{4 \pi d} \right)^2 \)

In dB scale:

\( P_{\text{rx}}(\text{dB}) = P_{\text{tx}}(\text{dB}) + G_{\text{tx}}(\text{dB}) + G_{\text{rx}}(\text{dB}) - 20 \log \left( \frac{4 \pi d}{\lambda} \right) \)
