Calculate Capillarity Height

Formula

The formula to calculate the Capillarity Height (hcapillarity) is:

\[ h_{capillarity} = \frac{4 \cdot \sigma \cdot \cos(\theta)}{\gamma \cdot d} \]

Definition

Capillarity height is denoted by the symbol h. Surface Tension is a word that is linked to the liquid surface. It is a physical property of liquids, in which the molecules are drawn onto every side. Theta is the angle of contact between liquid and the boundary of capillary tube. Specific Weight is defined as weight per unit volume. It is the specific weight of the liquid for which the calculation is being done. Diameter of tube is defined as the OUTSIDE DIAMETER (O.D.), specified in inches (e.g., 1.250) or fraction of an inch (e.g., 1-1/4″).

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Using the formula:

\[ h_{capillarity} = \frac{4 \cdot 72.75 \cdot \cos(0.13962634015952)}{112 \cdot 3} \approx 0.857642880963685 \]

The Capillarity Height is approximately 0.857642880963685 Meter.
