What is Lightning Distance?

Lightning distance is the total distance from a source that lightning strikes based on the delay between the flash and sound that arrives at the location.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Time from Flash to Thunder (\(T\)) = 10 seconds

Using the formula:

\[ D = 10 \times 0.343 = 3.43 \text{ km} \]

The lightning distance is 3.43 km.
