To calculate the Power Rack Consumption (\(PC\)):

\[ PC = S \times W \times R \]

Where:

\(PC\) is the Total Power Consumption (kW)
\(S\) is the Total Number of Servers per Rack
\(W\) is the Wattage of Each Server (kW)
\(R\) is the Total Number of Racks

What is a Power Rack?

A power rack is a term used to describe a structure containing multiple servers within a data center. It is crucial in determining the total power consumption of a data center.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Total Number of Servers per Rack (\(S\)) = 20
Wattage of Each Server (\(W\)) = 0.5 kW
Total Number of Racks (\(R\)) = 10

Using the formula:

\[ PC = 20 \times 0.5 \times 10 = 100 \]

The Total Power Consumption is 100 kW.

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Total Number of Servers per Rack (\(S\)) = 30
Wattage of Each Server (\(W\)) = 0.75 kW
Total Number of Racks (\(R\)) = 15

Using the formula:

\[ PC = 30 \times 0.75 \times 15 = 337.5 \]

The Total Power Consumption is 337.5 kW.
